About Iowa Agricultural Mitigation, Inc.
Iowa Agricultural Mitigation, Inc. (IAMI) is a not-for-profit umbrella-type wetland mitigation bank. The bank provides compensatory mitigation credits for impacts to farmed wetlands within the identified bank service areas.
The goal of the IAMI is to provide an alternative, high-quality source of wetland mitigation credits in advance of their need for land improvement projects that result in impacts to farmed wetlands. The initial target area to be served includes the prairie pothole region of north-central Iowa.
The purpose of an umbrella-type bank is to provide on-going opportunities to add additional credit capacity to the bank by expanding to additional sites and service areas.
IAMI is managed by Iowa Agricultural Mitigation, Inc., an Iowa 501(c)(5) non-profit corporation formed in June 2010. The corporation’s Board of Directors is composed of seven members, including local government officials and natural resource professionals. In addition, the corporation has a non-voting planning committee composed of partner agency staff and advisers.
